|radish and spring onion stir fry|
Radish is called as mullangi in south India and mulli in North India often used to make salads, stir fries, kootu, curry and Mullangi sambhar. During my trip to India, my mom had prepared this stir fried radish (mullangi with spring onions), the aroma and taste of this dry curry surprised me. Most people avert this veggie due to its strong flavor. But certain preparations definitely remove the strong smell and can win anyone’s heart. Just like adding a few drops of vinegar or lemon juice to radish salad (mullangi kosambari)can take away the strong smell, today’s recipe needs spring onions to mask the same. It as well adds taste to the curry. White sesame seeds or peanut powder are used to give an additional nutty flavor. I have tried only with White Sesame seeds and it has become one of my kids’ favorite veg curry now. If you do not like the taste of sesame seeds, use peanut powder or pappu podi.
