Fermented lentils & rice steamed cakes

IDLI RECIPE

Add ½ cup washed dal to a bowl and soak for about 6 hours. Drain the water and blend it to smooth with water.

 Add more water if needed and blend till the batter is frothy and thick.

Add 1 cup rice and grind until smooth.

Move the batter to a pot.

Mix well and keep it aside for fermenting for 6 to 12 hours

The batter has to turn light and bubbly after fermentation.

Mix the batter to make it uniform.

Bring water to boil on a medium high flame. Pour the batter into the moulds.

Steam for 10 minutes. Once done, loosen the idli from the moulds.

Add some ghee and serve with coriander coconut chutney or peanut chutney.
